Lawrence G. Lenke, MD Completes his Presidency of the Scoliosis Research Society

Lawrence G. Lenke, MD culminated his one-year term as the 40th President of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) at its 46th Annual Meeting held September 14-17, 2011, in Louisville, Kentucky.  The meeting was considered a huge success with record-setting attendance of nearly 1300 registrants.  The SRS’s 1100 national and international membership is made up of spinal deformity surgeons and researchers representing 50 countries.

Dr. Lenke accomplished several major initiatives during his presidential term.

  • Organized and chaired a retreat of 40 members from 23 countries on the society’s adaptation to increasing globalization, and its future implications on the programs and membership.
  • The website committee totally revamped the SRS website (www.srs.org), including a new home page, patient education sections and highlights.
  • Launched an SRS E-TEXTBOOK covering the fundamentals of spinal deformity care, found on srs.org.
  • Launched Spine Deformity, the official research journal of the SRS.
