The patient is a 61 year old female who works full time and had seen multiple surgeons regarding her degenerative lumbar scoliosis and imbalance. She had preop back and leg pain. She could not sit/stand/walk for extended period of time with a maximum of 30-60 minutes. She tried PT, exercises, ultrasound, manipulation, bracing, anti-inflammatories, injections, and narcotics with only temporary relief. She was very dissatisfied with her quality of life and was completely interested in surgery. Her lumbar scoliosis measured at 49 degrees and she was off balance by 5 cm in the coronal plane.
She had surgery 6/26/17 from T4 to the sacrum. At her first postop appointment in August she was doing very well and pleased with her surgery/recovery.
